Blanche cummings- 8/20/1929-7/30/2025

Beloved Great grandmother, Grandmother & Mother Blanche T. Cummings left an indelible mark on her family and the world. In 2015 at the age of 85, Blanche Cummings lowered the 80-85 age group world record by about eight seconds (Blanche actually broke 10:30 at an all-comers race at Yorba Linda High School a few months earlier), but had to officially set the record at a USATF sanctioned meet, which is why she raced at Cerritos College in June, on a much warmer day. She actually tripped & fell before her event, but still got up and smashed the world record. Blanche had started her running career late in her 70s and early 80s. It was a common occurrence, having friends & others in the running community tell me they saw my grandmother running down Esperanza Road or on other local YL horse trails
