Expectations + Grade Bumps:
This is new for all of us. Every teacher is different and will hold his or her class to different expectations. For my APUSH students, grades for 3rd quarter are final. The only way to raise your grade is to pass the AP exam.
Per my syllabus, if you pass the AP Exam with the score of a 3, that equals a ONE letter grade bump for either semester.
If you pass the AP exam with the score of a 4 or a 5, that equals a TWO letter grade bump that can be applied to one semester or both semesters if you wanted to break it up that way.

I am here to help. I want to help. Please feel free to reach out to me via email: David.Cummings@cnusd.k12.ca.us or through Remind101.

Office Hours:
My Office Hours as of now are on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 am to Noon. I should respond in a quick and timely manner then. If you email me or hmu on Remind 101 outside of office hours, I will do my best to respond within 24 hours.

AP TEST REFUNDS:
All questions should have been answered in an email blast. Any other quesions email Dr. Tellez: jtellez@cnusd.k12.ca.us
College Board is no longer accepting refunds. Any exam refunds that have been requested should be able to be processed AFTER THE FIRST EXAM DATE.

AP TEST: May 15th
The plan is for you to take the exam on May 15th, because in the event of a device malfunction or issue, you have another chance.
If you miss the first window, you will automatically be enrolled for the second window, which is June 3rd.

Cheating:
I will get a copy of your essay, and I will be flagging any suspicious writing that does not appear to be your own.
YOU ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE EXAM WITH OPEN BOOK AND OPEN NOTES, SO PLEASE PLAN AHEAD AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WILL HAVE IN FRONT OF YOU FOR YOUR 45 MINUTE ESSAY!!!

  • Support an argument in response to the prompt using at least 4 documents.
  • Use at least 2 additional pieces of specific historical evidence (beyond that found in the documents) relevant to an argument about the prompt.

Modified Document-Based Question (DBQ). The prompt for the 2020 modified DBQ may be derived from any of Units 3–7, and will include 5 documents (instead of 7). The rubric will be lightly modified to match the reduced number of documents, awarding 1 point for using 2 documents and an additional point for using 4 documents. An additional point will be awarded for effectively incorporating a second piece of outside knowledge into the argument. Students can earn up to 2 points for sourcing (1 point for each document).
