Hello Coach David Cummings,
We are looking forward to another great invitational and some very fast fields this year.  We are excited to have you join our meet, thank you!
The registration deadline for The CCA Raven XC Invitational Sponsored by Fleet Feet SD is approaching. All athlete entries must be submitted before Wednesday, September 2 at 11:59PM.
Current Timeline of Schedule:
  • 4:30 PM - Boys Freshmen/ Sophomore Race 1.5 Mile
  • 4:45 PM - Girls Freshmen/ Sophomore Race 1.5 Mile
  • 5:05 PM - Boys Junior/ Senior Race 1.5 Mile Race
  • 5:20 PM - Girls Junior/ Senior Race 1.5 Mile Race
  • 5:40 PM - Girls Freshmen Race 3 Mile Race
  • 6:05 PM - Boys Freshmen Race 3 Mile Race
  • 6:30 PM - Girls Sophomore Race 3 Mile Race
  • 6:55 PM - Boys Sophomore Race 3 Mile Race
  • 7:15 PM - Girls Junior Race 3 Mile Race
  • 7:40 PM - Boys Junior Race 3 Mile Race
  • 8:00 PM - Girls Senior Race 3 Mile Race
  • 8:25 PM - Boys Senior Race 3 Mile Race
  • 8:55 PM - Girls Invitational Race 3 Mile Race
  • 9:25 PM - Boys Invitational Race 3 Mile Race
Entries - Please do the best you can in placing athletes.  The Invitational can also have are for those upper level athletes - looking for athletes of all ages that you believe can run faster than 16:30 for Men and 19:00 for Women.  I trust your judgment as a coach as we are looking to make that a fast and competitive race.  Winners of these two races are also awarded a Shoe Certificate from Fleet Feet San Diego - one of our Race Sponsors.
It helps greatly if you have your ENTIRE team roster already in Athletic.net.  Unfortunately, if you forget someone to enter in athletic.net and do not enter in one of our races we will be unable to fix that.
Currently it looks to be warm all this week and perhaps next week.  That is why we moved to night time.  We get a nice breeze about 3:00PM each day, so we should be good to go for those big races.  We will have medical personnel on site again this year, I hope that we do not have to use them.  Fluids, hydration, and nutrition are going to be very important this week for everyone!  Teams, bring extra water for your athletes.
Bring extra water for your athletes!  We will have a snack bar open selling food, drinks, and t-shirts and several food trucks in our food truck alley.  Bringing extra water for your athletes will be helpful to them as well.  Team tents can be placed - on the top row of the stadium (will probably fill up quickly), on the paved outdoor basketball courts, and on the grass fields.  Bathrooms are on the outside of the gym, in the grass by the start area, and concession stands.  Public water fountains are along the course, near the start line, and by each of the bathrooms.
Parking - it will get busy.  Please let your parents and families know that if they do arrive, to park in only the designated parking spots and all parking lots have easy access to the race course.  If you are bringing a bus, BUS DROP OFF will be at Pacific Trails Middle School.  There is a side entry from that lot that makes it quick and simple into our campus.  After the bus  drops off the athletes, please have the bus driver park at Torrey Pines HS parking lot.
Address: 3710 Del Mar Heights Rd, San Diego, CA 92130
We will not have room for buses to stay in our parking lots.  Be sure to grab the bus driver’s number.  Torrey Pines is just less than 3 miles down the road (Del Mar Heights) from us and they will have ample room for buses.  Bus drop off should be in the Staff/Administrative and Pacific Highlands Sports Park parking lot.  If you come in the main entrance, have the bus turn left to drop off.  As the course goes through the other parking lots, it will be hard for large buses to navigate those turns.
Course Map:

Warming up/ Cooling down.  The Pacific Highlands Ranch Skatepark shares a parking lot with us and has a nice loop that athletes can warm up on.  There are public bathrooms there as well.  Athletes can also use the grass fields by the start line as well.  Solana Ranch Park, just short of 1 mile from our Track Stadium, is on Pacific Highlands Ranch Pkwy (Cross the street by Trader Joes) and also has some great dirt trails.
Packet Pickup Tent
Team Packets/ Check In will be at our Concession Stand area.  The chips that you do not use, please return them here or in the buckets at the finish line.
The payment Invoice has been setup within Athletic.net so you can see once you register athletes your payment.  Payment should be made before you pick up your packet.
School W-9 can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19WxJhAOHicsiL69CeZnFP7BRrcMEtB2X/view?usp=drive_link
We will be using Chip Timing again this year.  Chips must match the bib numbers.  Before you leave the meet, please return all chips back to the registration tent.  When handing out bibs and Chips, please double check to hand out the right bib and chips to each athlete.

Live Results: Link to live Results and splits will be in future emails.
Please share the Live Results link with your athletes, parents, and fans!
Customizable T-Shirts will be on sale until we sell out!
I am hoping everyone's season is off to a great start and we are looking forward to seeing you here soon!
Thank you for all that you do!

RACES Information
https://www.woodbridgexcclassic.com/racingInfo/schedule  lists the Scheduled start times for each          race for each division.
1. In each of our five divisions, you have the following races you can choose for your runners: Varsity, Frosh boys, Frosh girls, Soph boys, Soph girls, Junior boys, Junior/Senior girls, Senior boys, Novice boys and Novice girls.
3.      The coach decides the race for each athlete.  The coach does not declare the race for each runner at any time during the runner registration period.  The coach simply takes the runners to their chosen race on the day of the meet.  Our scoring software takes care of the rest.
  1. Top six teams in each of the races in each  of the divisions earn the team award of 7 patches.  Patches can be picked up at the awards table in the check-in area.  Pick up when results become official.  No team awards in the Novice races.

    5.  The novice races are combined-division races (one boys' and one girls' races for the Friday divisions and one boy’s and one girls’ race for the Saturday divisions. No awards for anyone in these races.  Reasons for the Novice races:a.       Any young man (PR of 23:00 or slower) and any young lady (PR of 24:00 or slower) should be placed in these races.  The race gives these athletes the opportunity to compete against others within the same ability level and not be overwhelmed by the faster runners in the scoring races.
b.     Since our races are scheduled to start 12:00 apart, we must cut off the timing at around the 27:00-minute mark to be ready for the next race in that chute.  So that leaves runners in the high 20s and 30s with no time.  We prefer to have a time for every runner.  Only way that can happen is with the Novice races.
c.      Having the slower runners run in the novice races reduces the congestion in the scoring races which leads to better competition.

6.      The Varsity races have a limit of 7.   If you feel your varsity team is not ready for varsity competition yet, you do not have to run a team in the varsity race.  You run them in their grade-level races where they have a  better chance for an individual or team award.

7.      Grade-level races: No limit on how many runners you put in each of these races.
a.       You can move a runner up in grade-levels but not down.  So, a Soph runner can run in the Junior or Senior races but not in the frosh races.
b.     So, if your Varsity team is not quite ready for the varsity races, you can run your top 7 over all in the senior race and get a “varsity” experience and a team score.
c.      The original Woodbridge XC Invite only consisted of Grade-Level races, and it was cool for a junior, for example, to run against only juniors, etc.
d.     Frosh and Soph races tend to be very large.  But junior and senior races are not that crowded.  We like teams that have more than ten (10) runners in a grade-level race to move some of the frosh and soph slower runners into the less crowded Jr & Sr races.  In some cases this will result in having scoring teams in the junior and/or senior races as well as reducing the crowding in the frosh & soph races.

·         Have someone enter the count of each size that your team needs.
·         Collect $30 from each athlete that wants to pre-order
·         On race day, proceed to the ASICS booth to pay the total (cash or card) and pick up your bundle

The entry fee must be paid by the race day to avoid charging your credit card on file!  If you have not initiated the request for a school check yet, you could end up having to pay by credit card since the process of getting a check takes a long time in some cases. The fee can be paid by :
      1. School check (OK to bring the day of the meet) made out to Woodbridge XC Classic.  Be sure your school’s name appears on the check somewhere, especially if your District Office writes the check.
      2.  personal check (need same info as for the school check)
      3. Cash
      4.  Credit Card.
