The Granger Movement taking its name from the National Grange of the Patrons of Husbandry--Patrons of Husbandry-is a fraternal organization in the United States that encourages families to band together to promote the economic and political well-being of the community and agriculture.

Pendleton Civil Service Act- The act was signed into law by President Chester A. Arthur, who had become an ardent reformer after Garfield's assassination. (I guess he did't have nine lives!) The Pendleton Act provided that Federal Government jobs be awarded on the basis of merit and that Government employees be selected through competitive exams



Intrastate commerce is when you drive a commercial motor vehicle only within one state and you do not meet any of the descriptions above forinterstate commerce. NOTE: If you operate in both intrastatecommerce and interstate commerce, you must choose interstatecommerce.

1900s, voters given the initiative, recall, and referendum - voters have more of a say in government now.
